The Charles E. Rogler laboratory is studying the roles of miRNA in
hepatocarcinogenesis and hepatitis B virus replication. MiRNAs that are
up or down regulated in hepatocellular carcinoma have been identified and
projects are planned to investigate the targets of those miRNAs and their
function in tumorigenesis. Also, cellular miRNAs that regulate HBV
replication have been identified and the mechanism of their inhibition of
replication is a project to be carried out.
