The objectives of the Hispanic Center of Excellence at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine are to

  • Expand the pool of qualified Hispanic students who apply for admission to Einstein by increasing and enhancing cooperative programs with Fordham University, Lehman College, Mercy College, and other educational institutions.
     
  • Enhance the academic performance and success of under-represented minority students by expanding counseling and mentoring programs.
     
  • Strengthen Einstein's curriculum in cultural competency and health issues affecting minorities.
     
  • Build more extensive clinical experience for all Einstein medical students at community health centers serving minority populations.
     
  • Assure the retention, promotion, and success of under-represented minority junior faculty members at Einstein through the creation of a Faculty Development Fellowship Program.
     
  • Promote faculty and student research in minority health.
