New Center for DOSA—The Division of Substance Abuse in Einstein’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences recently marked the opening of its Wellness Center at Port Morris, located on East 138th Street in the Bronx. According to program director Dr. Sarah Church, the new state-of-the-art treatment program offers the full range of comprehensive substance abuse and primary care services that had previously been provided at the Division’s three opioid treatment programs, located at East 149th Street. The program’s new environment is conducive to recovery that will enhance and support the excellent substance abuse treatment, psychiatry services, and primary care services that Einstein’s programs have provided to the Bronx community for more than 35 years.

New PublicationDr. Paul Gross, assistant professor of family and social medicine, has launched a new, online publication called Pulse: Voices From The Heart of Medicine. The inspiration for Pulse is to use people’s personal experiences (from both inside and outside the health care system) to start a national conversation about illness, health and health care. The free, weekly publication will be e-mailed to subscribers, with each issue containing one personal story or poem. Readers also will be able to click on the publication’s web site—www.pulsemagazine.org—to post comments, look at archived issues, and find out how to submit their own writing.
