GIVING OPPORTUNITIES AT EINSTEIN

Over the years, the generosity of the many friends of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine has spurred the College’s growth as an internationally renowned center for biomedical research and education. It consistently stands among the national leaders in terms of peer-reviewed research support. Seven major biomedical fields - AIDS, cancer, brain disease, diabetes, liver disease, sickle cell disease and human genome research-have received "Center of Excellence" designations from the National Institutes of Health.
Gifts of all sizes are deeply appreciated and may be directed toward specific donor interests. Opportunities are available to:
- Support laboratories and research centers
- Endow faculty positions, research initiatives and academic programs
- Establish scholarships and fellowships to assist young scientists and aspiring physicians.

What types of charitable gifts may a donor make to Einstein?
Charitable gifts may be designated for “unrestricted” or “restricted” purposes and can be structured as “current” or deferred.”
What are the advantages to Einstein of unrestricted gifts?
Unrestricted fits are especially valuable to the College because they provide the flexibility to achieve ongoing objectives and implement strategic planning priorities. They also provide the resources to cover the cost of educational and research programs not fully financed by other support or revenues.
What is a restricted gift?
A restricted gift may be designated for any of the College’s activities of particular interest to the donor such as scholarships, faculty support, research initiatives or enhancement of facilities.
What is the difference between a current gift and a deferred gift?
- Current Gift – an outright transfer of cash, securities, tangible or intangible personal property, real estate or insurance. Such gifts are among the tax-planning options available to taxpayers who itemize deductions.
- Deferred Gift – can include bequests through a will and life-income agreements such as charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.
