Computing Resources

ALNET (ALbert Einstein NETwork) provides Ethernet connectivity between computers or computerized devices
connected to it. All ALNET connections are hardwired by means of special-purpose copper and fiber optic
cables, and depending upon location, operate at speeds of 10 megabits per second (Mbps), 100 Mbps,
and 1000 Mbps.

ALNET is an integral part of the global computer network known as the "Internet." The extensive connectivity
of the Internet means that innumerable computer files, databases, and other valuable resources in thousands
of locations throughout the world are directly accessible from computers attached to ALNET.
