This program will
consist of inpatient evaluations, ward rounds, conferences, attendance
at consultations, work in the Neurology Clinic and attendance at teaching
sessions and seminars.

This elective will be offered to fourth year medical
students seeking a more extensive exposure to outpatient Neurology. An
individualized program will be prepared by the course director to suit
the particular interests of each student. The student may choose from a
wide variety of neurologic subspecialty experiences including: dementia,
movement disorders, neuro-geriatrics, epilepsy, headache, EMG and
neuromuscular disease amongst others. A maximum of one student may be
accommodated each half module. Interested students must contact the
course director one month prior to the desired start date so that a
rewarding experience can be arranged.

Fourth year student who have already completed their one month neurology
rotation may be eligible for a one month full time elective on the
Neurology Service at BIMC. This experience includes hospital
inpatients and hospital consultations.
The practice will gain experience in neurological history taking and
examinations under the guidance of resident and attending neurologists.
Students will be encouraged to consult the current neurological
literature relevant to their patients. This elective is not
offered all months, and any student interested in the rotation must
contact and receive permission to do the elective from Dr. Talitha
Espiritu at least one month prior to the elective.
